Allan Cross - Founder and Director
Allan set up The Media Network as an editorial recruitment agency in 1989 following six years with EMAP where, in his latter role as the publisher of two TV industry magazines, he had direct responsibility for recruiting and directing a 22-strong team across editorial, marketing and advertising sales. In 2013, he remodelled the business as a boutique consultancy to exploit his experience in senior level editorial search and selection.
Over 23 years in the business, Allan has probably interviewed more journalists and editors than anyone else in the industry. He’s also had the privilege of learning about the publishing strategies and models of a wide range of companies where the editorial component is an essential part of the business. He understands what's required to succeed at senior editorial level and is experienced in identifying the skills and competencies necessary.
Away from work he sings in a 50-strong choir indy-pop choir called Jam Tarts, does weekly 30-40 mile cycling circuits over the South Downs, and when it's warm enough, heads down for a swim off the beach in Brighton where he's lived since 1991.
